2026 Student / Resident / Fellow Research Call

$0 submission fee for student, resident, and fellow research. Through August 31.

What this is

The Journal of Acute Care Pharmacotherapy (JACP) is opening a limited-time window for student, resident, and fellow research. Normally, publishing comes with a submission fee. Through August 31, 2026, that fee is $0 for every eligible submission under this call. If you submit by August 31, the $0 applies no matter how long review takes.

Who’s eligible

This call is open to students, residents, and fellows across acute care, not just emergency medicine: EM, critical care, internal medicine, cardiology, administration, toxicology, infectious disease, or any other acute-care specialty. Eligible submissions are those where the first or presenting author is a student, resident, or fellow at the time of submission, or completed the underlying work during training. A physician co-author or mentor on the project is welcome too. You do not need to be a SEMP member to submit.

How it works, and by when

Submit your manuscript through JACP’s standard process on Scholastica (link below). To have the $0 fee applied, email referencing the “2026 Student/Resident/Fellow Research Call” when you submit, or right after. That’s it, no separate form. The $0 fee applies to eligible submissions received through August 31, 2026; if you submit by that date, it applies no matter how long review takes. After August 31, standard fees apply. Most submissions get an initial decision within about 45 days.

FAQ

Does my research need to be EM-specific?
No. This call is open to acute-care research broadly, including EM, ICU, internal medicine, toxicology, infectious disease, and related areas.
Do I need to be a SEMP member to submit?
No. This call is open to all eligible students, residents, and fellows regardless of membership status.
What counts as “acute care”?
Any original research relevant to the care of acutely ill patients, whether that work happened in the emergency department, the ICU, an inpatient unit, or elsewhere in the acute-care continuum.
JACP is published by the Society of Emergency Medicine Pharmacists, so is this only for EM?
No. SEMP is the publisher, but JACP’s editorial scope is acute care broadly, and this call is open to any acute-care specialty.
What article types count?
Original research, brief reports, case reports and case series, and clinical pearls are the most common fits for trainee work, but our full author guidelines cover other formats too.
What happens after I submit?
Your manuscript enters JACP’s standard double-blind peer review process (at least two independent reviewers). You’ll hear from our editorial team as your submission moves through review.
Does submitting guarantee publication?
No. Every submission goes through the same double-blind peer review whether it’s part of this call or not. What we can promise is a fast, honest read, not a form-letter delay.
